James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) serves as the epitome of the imaginative stories and worlds that Cameron brings to life, through his detailed storytelling and his distinctive vision. Set in the backdrop of Pandora, a lush, alien world 4.4 light years away from Earth, Avatar follows the story of Jake Sully, a paraplegic who is thrust into the dangerous and bizarre life of his recently deceased twin brother, Tommy. As Jake serves as a DNA match to Tommy, he is accepted the Pandora Science Program, an initiative to assimilate with the local Pandoran native, the Na’vi people. Jake’s adventure leads him to startling realisations about his own identity and role in the greater good.
The most notable fact about Avatar is that it is highest grossing film in cinema history, which in itself serves as a testament to the successfully enjoyable engrossing experience it provided to audiences worldwide. Although people have argued that Avatar is overshadowed by a lack of originality with respect to plot, it provides an undeniably unique and visually immersive experience that has not been contested by movies both past and present. We here at the Good Fellas recommend this movie to everyone, as you too can experience a cinematographic masterpiece that pushes the bounds of CGI technology.
